At Iveco, R&D initiatives focus on both product and processes and are targeted at achieving excellence as a global provider of leading-edge solutions in sustainable transport for people and goods.
Product innovation is organized into four areas based on competitive priorities:
• the environment
• productivity
• performance
• safety

Process innovation initiatives are grouped into five areas:
• product development procedures
• virtual analysis
• objective performance measurement and testing
• product-process integration
• updating technical standards

Organizational and operating activities have also been developed to enhance environmental performance and increase awareness of sustainability-related issues. These include: preparation and dissemination of guidelines and standard documents relating to the environmental management system and the development of new data collection systems (Standard Aggregation Data) to be used as instruments for the monitoring and improvement of energy and environmental performance at manufacturing sites.
Iveco places a high priority on innovation and development of new technologies and has an active policy of modernizing its business and continuously improving the products and services provided to customers in both established and developing markets. As such, it is continuing to invest in product development and in strengthening its presence outside Europe. Its globalization strategy is focused on consolidating alliances in China, where activity has been dedicated to expanding the product range, and increasing its operating presence in Latin America, where it has doubled its activities, with new vehicles added to its product offering during the past year.
Continuous work on both product and process innovation together with standardized management of production processes are the most important components of the company's strategic vision.
